Ravi Jadhav’s upcoming Hindi movie “Taali”, starring Sushmita Sen as a transgender worker, will be released on Independence Day.

Sushmita Sen will play a never-before-seen avatar of “Shreegauri Sawant” in the upcoming film “Taali”, which will premiere at Jio Cinema on August 15, 2023

The trailer, released on Saturday, gives an insight into his acts of struggle, passion and victory.

The film will be produced by Arjun Singgh Baran and Kartk D Nishandar, directed by national award-winning director Ravi Jadhav, written by Kshitij Patwardhan.

About ‘Taali’

“Taali” will shed light on transgender activist Shreegauri· Shreegauri Sawant’s relentless pursuit of third gender recognition in India. The trailer begins with Sushmita in a saree looking at herself in the mirror and fixing her big bindi.

A picture of queer icon and iconic singer Usha Uthup can be seen on its shelf. We then see members of the transgender community greet Sushmita, who plays Shreegauri Sawant, and touch her feet. Born Pune, Shreegauri left home at a young age not to disappoint her police officer father.

She founded the Sakhi Char Chowghi Trust in 2000. The NGO counsels and promotes safe sex for transgender people in the community. In 2014, she became the first transgender person to petition the Constitutional Court for constitutional reform. She is also a petitioner in a major Supreme Court case recognizing transgender people as a third gender.

She has wrapped up its third season, which is about to premiere on the streaming platform. Sushmita took a hiatus from her acting career after suffering a heart attack during the third shoot of “Alia”. However, after he returned, he continued shooting.

Ravi Jadhav made his debut with the 2010 Marathi musical Natarang, which won Best Marathi Feature Film at the 57th National Film Awards. In 2014, his short film “Mitraa” won the Silver Lotus Award for Best Film at the 62nd National Film Awards.
