India vs Australia 2013 schedule: Sehwag and Gambhir out, Yuvraj in

Yuvraj singh

Yuvraj Singh has officially been picked for the single T20 and first three ODI matches of the 7-game series against Australia, NDTV reports on September 30, 2013.

Yuvraj Singh included in India squad for Australia series

Dropped senior members Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Gautam Gambhir, and Virender Sehwag were not picked for the squad yet again, which would feature only one change from the team lineup that was used for the tri-series in the Caribbean and that won the ICC Champions Trophy.

Led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the team would see Dinesh Karthik being replaced by the 31-year-old left-handed all rounder. Lack of fitness and a poor run of form saw Yuvraj drop out of the side after playing against England in an ODI at Dharamsala on January 27.

However, Yuvraj followed that dismal appearance with a stint at a fitness camp in France and proved his return to form by scoring 123, 40, 61 and 52 in games against West Indies A.

Yuvraj carried his good form right into the Challenger Trophy where he scored a cool 84 for India blue in the game against India Red. Yuvraj’s entry in the squad would surely reinforce the vulnerable middle order though he is also likely to be called on to bowl a few overs should the bowling not fire as planned.

Star Cricket and Star Sports will have the rights to live telecast the series. The live streaming can be watched on Star Sports website.

The squad for the T20 and the first three matches of the series includes skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Yuvraj Singh, R. Ashwin, Ishant Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Amit Mishra, Vinay Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Ambati Rayudu and Jaydev Unadkat.
