“Kantara”, a Kannada-language action-thriller from Hombale Films, was one of the biggest hits of Indian cinema last year.
The budget of the movie was Rs 160 but earned around Rs 400 worldwide and put its star and director Rishab Shetty on the all India chart.
The makers announced a second episode in February 2023 to commemorate Kantara 2’s 100th day in theaters, and anticipation for “Kantara 2” has only increased since then.
Now we have an exciting update about the long awaited king of Kannada.
The producer has closed the shooting period and will begin the first phase of filming on November 1.
Rishab Shetty and his team wrote the script and is currently in pre-production.
The first episode was shot in Shetty’s hometown of Kandapura, while “Kantara 2” will mostly be shot in Mangalore.

It is expected to be released in the first quarter of next year, with the goal of being released in theaters in 2024.

Rishab and his crew traveled to the coastal forests of Karnataka for a two-month survey and carefully crafted it, hoping to bring a different movie to the audience in the future.

Kantara is a deep-rooted cultural phenomenon on the coast of Karnataka that revolves around the conflict between a tribal community whose lands are guarded by local deities when the forest department tries to get the government back.
Rishab Shetty plays two roles – Shiva, the champion of Kambala, and his father (played by Daiva Kola).He also directed the film, which also starred Sapthami Gowda, Kishore,Achyuth Kumar and Pramod Shetty.
Prequel “Kantara 2” should be created in a style and content similar to the first time, while maintaining its originality.
