Novak Djokovic overpowered Laslo Djere 4-6, 4-6, 6-1, 6-1, 6-3 in the third round of the US Open, avoiding what could happen.

He did not play at the US Open last year as he could not travel to the US.

Djere is 32nd and is attempting to reach the fourth round for the first time in a major tournament.
Both are from Serbia and have known each other for many years. They trained together, competed as doubles, and were teammates in the Davis Cup.
