Sophie Turner fans were in for a big surprise when they spotted the actress kissing her co-star Frank Dillane on the set of their new show, “The Staircase”.
The pair, who play lovers in the true-crime drama, were seen locking lips in a passionate embrace as they filmed a scene in New York City.
The kiss comes amid reports that Turner and her husband, Joe Jonas, are heading for a divorce after three years of marriage. According to sources, the couple have been living separate lives and have grown apart due to their busy schedules and different priorities.
Turner, 27, and Jonas, 32, tied the knot in a surprise Las Vegas ceremony in May 2019, followed by a lavish wedding in France a month later. They welcomed their first child, a daughter named Willa, in July 2020.
However, things have reportedly turned sour between the two, with Turner allegedly feeling unhappy and unfulfilled in the relationship. A source told Us Weekly that Turner “wants to focus on her career and explore new opportunities, while Joe is more content with settling down and starting a family.”
The source added that Turner and Jonas have been “fighting a lot” and are “on the verge of splitting up.” The couple’s last time they were seen together in public was in August when they attended the premiere of Jonas’ documentary, Happiness Continues.
Meanwhile, Turner has been busy filming The Staircase, a limited series based on the 2004 documentary of the same name. The show follows the trial of Michael Peterson (played by Colin Firth), a novelist who was accused of murdering his wife Kathleen (played by Toni Collette) after she was found dead at the bottom of their staircase.
Turner plays Margaret Ratliff, one of Peterson’s adopted daughters who supported him throughout the case. Dillane plays Ron Guerette, an investigator who worked for Peterson’s defense team and became romantically involved with Margaret.
