India’s largest car maker Maruti unveiled its premium hatchback ‘Baleno’ on October 26, 2015.
Managing Director & CEO Kenichi Ayukawa said after the launch; “With festive period around, this is the right time to launch Baleno. It will be an important model in our mission to achieve two million sales per annum by 2020.”
“It is a global model which would not only satisfy customers in India but global markets as well. I am excited that this model will be exported to Japan from India therefore, opening a new chapter in the long history of MSI,” Ayukawa said.
1. The petrol version is priced from Rs 4.99 – Rs 7.01 lakh, while the diesel variant ranges in between Rs 6.16 lakh to Rs 8.11 lakhs.
2. The top-end diesel variant will cost Rs 8.11 lakh.
3. The India premium hatchback cars are dominated by Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo. The cars are in the range of Rs 5.34 lakh to Rs 8.63 lakh.
4. The car will be manufactured only in India.
Features and specifications:
The Baleno variants are named as Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha.
All variants will have ABS, EBD and dual front airbags as Standard package.
The Baleno is equipped with a 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine paired to a 5-speed manual transmission.
The petrol engine is has 84.3 PS of power, 115 Nm of torque, and returns 21.4 km per litre. The 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine develops 75 PS, 190 Nm of torque.
