A new anime is set to be launched in India November 9, this new anime will be released on OTT platforms and this anime is an adaptation of Shigeru Mizuki’s manga named “Akuma Kun”. “Akuma Kun” is an anime that revolves around a young protagonist’s earnest desire to bring positive change to the world. Along his journey he forms alliances with demons. This captivating story unfolds three decades after the events of the “Akuma Kun” anime series.
The Cast Of “Akuma Kun”
The voice cast for this project features Yūko Mita and Toshio Furukawa who will be reprising their roles from the anime. They will be portraying Akuma I and Mephisto II respectively.
Furukawa will also take on the role of Mephisto III. Yuuki Kaji has been chosen to play the protagonist, Akuma II. The cast also includes Ryoko Shiraishi, Yumiri Hanamori, Fairouz Ai, Yukiyo Fujii, Hiro Shimono, Michiyo Yanagisawa and Yūsaku Yara.
Other key team members involved in this production include Wataru Osakabe, for magic circle design Sakae Shibuya as the character designer and chief animation director Kunio Tsujita as the color key artist, Takeo Ogiwara as the compositing director of photography and Akio Izutsu handling the music (known for their work, on “Phi Brain. Kami no Puzzle”).
100-year Anniversary of Shigeru Mizuki
This anime is one of the projects created to honor Shigeru Mizuki’s birthday. Mizuki, a figure, in the manga industry passed away in 2015 at the age of 93. As part of the anniversary celebrations a new anime movie titled “Kitaro Tanjo; Gegege no Nazo” will be released on November 17.
In addition to two released anime films in 1989 and 1990 there was also a TV anime series called “”Akuma Kun”” based on the manga, between 1989 and 1990. After a gap of 33 years this new series marks the adaptation. Over time several live action adaptations have drawn inspiration from this manga.
The “Akuma Kun” manga was first written by Shigeru Mizuki between 1963 and 1964. He continued to write “Akuma Kun” manga during the following decades in the 1970s and 1980s. The story revolves around “Akuma Kun”, a boy who utilizes his demon powers to safeguard our world.
