In the video, Ballerini is seen cuddled up with boyfriend Chase Stokes and surrounded by friends while the Grammy Awards ceremony is shown on TV. The first record mentioned was Rolling Up the Welcome Mat when the announcer unveiled the Best Country Album nominees.
What Happened?
Immediately, Ballerini and her pals started cheering and crying. When Ballerini gave one of her friends a hug, Stokes appeared relieved. The actor from Outer Banks eventually encircled his sweetheart with his arms and planted a peck on her cheek.
Ballerini’s breakup and ultimate divorce from ex-husband Morgan Evans served as the inspiration for the music for her six-track EP, Rolling Up the Welcome Mat, which was released in February.
After being married for over five years, Ballerini filed for divorce from Evans in August 2022. That November, the legal proceedings came to an end. Ballerini used heartfelt songs like “Penthouse” from her EP to discuss what went wrong between them.
Her Song Lyrics
After her EP became popular, Ballerini reissued it in August under the new title Rolling Up the Welcome Mat (For Good). This time, the song “Penthouse” had new lyrics and was a “healed version.”
A “full length” version of “Interlude,” a “Yeah, Sure, Okay” rendition of “Blindsided,” and a brand-new song called “How Do I Do This” were also featured on the For Good EP. In an August interview with Us Weekly alone, Ballerini discussed the “unexpected” reception the album received from fans.
Ballerini has closed the book on the past, but “the songs and what they were about” will “always be a chapter” of her life.
Speaking to Us about her followers, she said, “Now, it’s just this thing that has connected me to people and I wanna be able to say thank you by giving them what they’ve asked for through this music.” That’s the reason I’m really thrilled about it. I have nothing but gratitude for it.
