The holiday season is here, and with it comes some stimulus checks and other payments that you may be eligible for. Here’s a roundup of what you can expect to receive in December.
Child Tax Credit
The final payment of the expanded Child Tax Credit will be issued on December 15th. This payment will be based on your 2021 tax return. If you didn’t receive the full credit in advance payments, you will receive the remaining lump sum in December.
State Stimulus Checks
Several states are still issuing stimulus checks to their residents. Here are a few examples:
- California: California is sending out another round of Middle-Class Tax Refund payments in December. The payment amount will be based on your income and family size.
- Illinois: Illinois is sending out one-time payments of $400 or $500 to eligible residents in December. The payment will be based on your income and whether you or a dependent filed for a property tax freeze.
- Maine: Maine is sending out one-time payments of $850 or $1,700 to eligible residents in December. The payment will be based on your income and whether you or a dependent is eligible for the Dependent Care Credit.

In addition to the stimulus checks listed above, you may also be eligible for other payments in December, such as:
