The Rajasthan unit of the Congress party has taken disciplinary action against its former Barmer MLA Mewaram Jain, who was caught in a compromising position in two video clips that surfaced online recently.
The full leaked video can be watched here.
The footage shows Mewaram Jain, a former MLA, entering a room where a woman places her mobile camera on a shelf in the cupboard. He engages in some conversation with her, drinks some water, and then begins to perform lewd acts with her.
Explicit videos featuring Mewaram Jain go viral
After a woman accused former Barmer MLA Mewaram Jain of rape in 2022, a medical examination and statement recordings commenced.
Meanwhile, Jain sought legal protection, delaying his arrest until January 25. However, before the next hearing, a shocking twist unfolded: explicit videos allegedly featuring Jain went viral, igniting public outrage.
This wasn’t the first time these visuals surfaced. In 2022, screenshots leaked, prompting a sextortion case filed by Jain’s co-accused, Ram Swaroop Acharya.
Two women, including a lawyer, were arrested after demands of Rs 5 crore surfaced, allegedly for suppressing the videos. Though settled at Rs 50 lakh, further extortion led to their arrests.

Crucially, the woman’s original FIR mentioned these identical videos, stored by police on a pen drive. Now, the question looms: how did these sensitive recordings leak?
The online exposure adds another layer of complexity to the ongoing rape case and raises troubling questions about privacy and security within legal proceedings.
Jain, who had represented Barmer in the Rajasthan Assembly from 2013 to 2018, was seen in the videos with an unidentified woman, allegedly indulging in an obscene act.
The videos were widely circulated on social media platforms, triggering outrage and embarrassment for the party.
Jain has claimed that the videos are fake and part of a conspiracy to defame him. He has also filed a police complaint against unknown persons for maligning his reputation.
Mewaram Jain suspended
The party has suspended Jain from its primary membership and issued a show-cause notice to him, asking him to explain his conduct within 15 days. The party said that Jain’s behavior was unacceptable and tarnished the image of the Congress.
The Congress party, however, has taken a serious view of the matter and decided to crack the whip on Jain.
The party’s state disciplinary committee chairman, Mahesh Joshi, said that Jain’s suspension was effective immediately and he would remain suspended until further orders.
Joshi said that Jain had violated the party’s code of conduct and brought shame to the party. He said that the party would not tolerate any indiscipline or misconduct by its members and would take stern action against anyone found guilty.
