Smoke in Cockpit Forces Landing at Los Angeles Airport
A private jet carrying Colombian pop star Karol G was forced to make an emergency landing Thursday night after the pilot reported smoke in the cockpit. The plane safely touched down at Los Angeles’ Van Nuys Airport, with video showing a calm Karol G disembarking.
Plane Bears Singer’s Signature Logo and Design
The twin-engine Gulfstream IV jet featured Karol G’s signature barbed-wire heart logo and her current tour branding painted on the exterior. It had taken off from nearby Hollywood Burbank Airport en route to El Salvador when it quickly diverted to Van Nuys.
Video Captures Smooth Landing, Singer Departing
CNN affiliate KABC captured footage of the dramatic nighttime landing, showing the plane touching down without incident. It then filmed Karol G herself exiting the aircraft onto the tarmac appearing composed in the wake of the mid-flight incident.
The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the emergency landing happened around 9 PM local time. The cause behind the reported cockpit smoke remains under investigation. But any major malfunction was ultimately averted given the jet’s smooth landing and lack of any injuries.
Karol G did not immediately comment herself on social media overnight about the aviation scare. But she continues her global concert tour following her Best Música Urbana Album win at this year’s Grammy Awards.
