‘Elvis’ Actor Unrecognizable As Bald, Black-Toothed Villain
Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya admit they were both unsettled seeing co-star Austin Butler in full villainous costume on the Budapest set of “Dune: Part Two.” The stars say Butler’s extreme transformation to play ruthless Harkonnen nephew Feyd-Rautha was “jarring.”
Butler Sports Bald Head, Blackened Teeth as Baddie
To inhabit his psychotic character, Butler dons ghostly makeup with no eyebrows, jet-blackened teeth, and a fully shaven head. Zendaya details initially meeting him while he was still in the haunting getup after a scene. She jokes getting to know Butler meant seeing him toggle oddly fast from “terrifying creature” to his “very warm” real self.
Chalamet Felt ‘Crazy/ Reacting to Co-Star’s Look
Similarly, Chalamet remembers first encountering Butler’s look rehearsing their fight scenes. He says seeing Butler’s drastic physical shift to play the “pretty aggressive” villain role made him both “nervous and excited.” But after ample rehearsal, he feels their action sequences turned out extremely well.
Both stars say the initially jolting sight of Butler’s extreme look for the sequel’s key antagonist role gave way to great collaborative chemistry. And Butler’s creepy costume transformation seems poised to make a big splash when audiences see him oppose hero Chalamet on-screen.
While the drastic physical shift of the normally handsome Butler left his co-stars stunned at first, they ultimately settled nicely into battling their bald, black-toothed foe.
