Sci-Fi Queen Expands Genre Reign in “Resident Alien,” “Stranger Things”
Though she may be finished with the iconic “Terminator” franchise, Linda Hamilton continues thriving across the sci-fi spectrum at age 67. The big-screen icon is diving into TV’s fountain of youth through scene-stealing roles in Syfy’s “Resident Alien” and the hotly anticipated final season of Netflix smash “Stranger Things.”
Not Done With Sci-Fi Despite “Terminator” Exit
While recently confirming she’ll sit out the newly announced “Terminator 7,” Hamilton embraces fans still identifying her with unstoppable heroine Sarah Connor. And she stresses her affinity for sci-fi’s boundless “imagination” makes moving beyond “Terminator” no creative sacrifice.
Between “Resident Alien” and “Stranger Things,” Hamilton is clearly still at home driving small-screen sci-fi as she expands her genre footprint. She calls her “Resident Alien” general role “fun and wacky” despite being the comedy’s “straight man.” And Hamilton terms her mysterious “Stranger Things” Season 5 character “the best time.”
Hollywood Ageism Not Slowing Down 67-Year-Old Star
Hamilton also dismisses Hollywood ageism concerns, saying she now lands “better roles than I got as a younger actress” in rich character parts. She highlights a recent role so detached from her identity that there was “absolutely zero Linda Hamilton” present.
So even as the queen closes her “Terminator” chapter, Hamilton continues engraving her mark across science fiction. Thanks to meaty new TV challenges that subvert her steely typecasting, the sci-fi icon is proving she won’t be terminated any time soon.
