The Ministry of Tourism and Sports, together with the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), announced that the major “World Songkran Festival 2024” event will be held from April 11 to 15. The 2024 Maha Songkran World Songkran Festival will be held between 11-15 April at Ratchadamnoen Klang Boulevard and Royal Fields Plaza in Bangkok.
The “Maha Songkran Parade” on April 11th stands out. The parade starts at Phan Fa Lilat Bridge and ends at Royal Field Square. There are 20 major performances and over 1000 artists.
The parade will be led by the Maha Su Songkran Parade, which follows the unique Su Songkran traditions of 16 provinces. Thailand is set to register its special cultural events as “Intellectual Property Rights Festival”; five other model provinces – Chiang Rai, Nong Khai, Phitsanulok, Songkhla and Buriram; and to other provinces where the Songkran tradition will be introduced – Ayutthaya, Nakhon Phanom, Lampang, Loei, Sukhothai and Phuket. Other big shows include “soft power”, which includes fashion, sports, movies, TV shows and festivals.

For five days, Royal Fields Plaza will be the main venue for the 2024 Maha Songkran World Water Festival. The main stage will feature cultural performances and musical shows such as contemporary art and drama, as well as Khon Mask Theater and Nora Dance Drama, which are recognized as intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO.
Songkran traditions and celebrations specific to the north, northeast, east, middle and south of Thailand will be presented in a special area. This includes local arts and crafts events and exhibitions from across the five regions, as well as DIY workshops.
