Are you someone who holds onto your thoughts and finds it difficult to share your inner feelings and secrets? Well, wait no more. On “True Confessions Day,” March 15, free your mind from your thoughts and let the people see the real you. Aiming towards a more transparent and healthy relationship with others is what “True Confessions Day” is all about!
How did it start?
Confession is mainly associated with religion and law. In Catholicism, people admit to their sins in front of the priest and seek obligation from punishment. However, confession is not bound within the realms of law and religion. It also refers to the sharing of innermost secrets and the release of any personal guilt. A confession can also be sharing your feelings with someone you like or have a crush on.
Thomas & Ruth Roy of Wellcat Holiday founded “True Confessions Day” to discourage people from confessing and keeping secrets. The aim was to create a day to help people confess their secrets, pour out their feelings, and lift them off from guilt and regret.
How to celebrate “True Confessions Day?”
This confessions day, share your feelings with your partner. Have a candid and open talk with them and share what you like and dislike about them. This can lead to growth in relationships.
Let go of your ego, admit to a mistake, and ask for forgiveness.
You can play a game with your friends and family members where you can sit in a circle and take turns sharing a secret that has been too heavy for you guys. Otherwise, lift that weight off your chest.
If you find it difficult to talk it out with your loved ones, you can join anonymous support groups and share your thoughts and feelings without being judged. You can also consider talking to a therapist.
