National No Selfies Day 2024; History And How To Celebrate

Selfies have become one of the most popular types of photographs that are uploaded by users on social media. It’s easy and convenient and you don’t require any photography skills to capture your best moments. Some people consider the idea of selfies to be narcissistic. Well, good news for them since there is a day called – “No Selfies Day”. The day falls on March 16, 2024.

History of “No Selfies Day”

“No Selfie Day” was established to help people realize that it is not about polishing our outer shells but nurturing our beauty from within. The whole agenda seems to revolve around our desire to get noticed. And to get noticed, people spend hours a week trying to capture that perfect selfie with that perfect angle and posture. And, as if this wasn’t enough people even use editing software to align their photos with unrealistic beauty standards!

Nowadays, people are so engrossed in taking selfies that they often forget to take a look around them. Instead of capturing via camera, National No Selfies Day aims to normalize capturing memories via our eyes and just on phones! The concept is to live in the moment and enjoy it rather than trying to capture and edit it.

How to Celebrate “No Selfies Day?”

This No Selfies Day, people for a while can put their phones down and try to capture other people. You can organize photoshoots for your friends and family.

You can also visit a children’s orphanage and take portraits of the children, bringing joy and cheer.

If you are a nature lover, then go outside and capture the nature around you. Wake up early and click pictures of the sun or if you have a trekking trail nearby, go and explore the flora and fauna and take pictures. You can also do street and food photography as well.
