IPL 2024: Mumbai Indians Concerned Over Suryakumar Yadav’s Fitness
The Mumbai Indians are concerned about Suryakumar Yadav’s fitness ahead of the IPL’s initial matches.
Yadav sustained a sports hernia injury requiring surgery and has been sidelined since the T20I series against South Africa in December. He is Currently rehabilitating at the NCA in Bengaluru, but his return to action remains uncertain.
“He has been batting in the nets. Tomorrow (Tuesday), he will have his first ‘open net’ session. He will go through some fielding drills, too. Depending on how his body reacts to it, the BCCI’s medical team will assess whether he’s fit to return to action,” a source informed TOI.
Mumbai Indians are scheduled to play their first match against Gujarat Titans on March 24 in Ahmedabad.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians coach Mark Boucher expressed optimism about the partnership between Sri Lanka’s pacer Nuwan Thushara, acquired by MI for Rs 4.8 crore, and their new bowling coach Lasith Malinga. Boucher believes their similar actions make them an ideal match.
“They come from the same country, they have the same action, it’s a match made in heaven. He is the perfect coach for Nuwan, and I think they both are in a perfect space,” Boucher commented.
