Manikarnika actress Kangana Ranaut has faced back-to-back fiasco at the box office in recent years. Her recent movies, ‘Dhaakad’, ‘Thalaivii’, ‘Tejas’ and ‘Chandramukhi 2’, failed to attract the audience to the theatres.
When asked about her flop movies at The Times Summit 2024, Kangana finally spoke out and compared her films with Shah Rukh Khan, the legend of Bollywood.
More details
Kangana compared herself to Shah Rukh Khan and remarked that even a superstar like him had to wait for years before making a comeback with the hit film ‘Pathaan.’ She said that failures are widespread; in reality, the most prominent stars fail a lot more than they succeed.
Kangana stated – “Poore world mein aisa koi nahi hai. Shah Rukh Khan ki 10 films nahi chali, phir Pathaan chali. Meri 7-8 saal koi film nahi chali, phir Queen chali, phir 3-4 saal baad Manikarnika chali. Now Emergency is releasing next, you never know maybe it will work wonders at the box office.”
She said Shah Rukh struggled with ten flop films, after which he delivered a blockbuster like Pathaan. Similarly, she struggled in her movies for 7 to 8 years before producing an iconic Bollywood hit like ‘Queen’. She also said that after 3-4 years, she found her foot in the world of cinema with ‘Manikarnika’. Her recent films might have flopped, but Kangana is not losing hope, as her upcoming movie ‘Emergency’ might turn out to be her next blockbuster in Bollywood.
OTT cannot make stars
Kangana stated that although the OTT platforms have gained popularity in recent years, launching fresh talents daily, OTT cannot make stars! She then puts herself and Shah Rukh Khan on the same pedestal, declaring themselves “the last generation of stars.”
“We are known faces and by the grace of God, we are very much in demand. But I want to involve myself with the real world as opposed to just being consumed by the field of arts,” Kangana further stated.
Meanwhile, the actress is involved in politics and will run for the upcoming Lok Sabha election from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi as a BJP candidate.
