Months after Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao battled it out in the boxing world now has a new obsession and eagerly awaits Vijender Singh vs Amir Khan. This clash has the potential to add another page in the India-Pakistan sporting rivalry.
Vijender was recently crowned WBO Asia-Pacific Super Middleweight champion. Despite being in different weight categories, he has announced that he is ready to fight Khan. Khan, on the other hand, has warned the less experienced Vijender, that he could destroy his professional career.
The 29-year-old Pakistani-British star and former silver medallist at the Olympics went on to add that Vijender has a lack of experience at the top level.
Vijender said, “If it happens it will be a huge fight. I am ready for it, ready to take that challenge.”
He also said that he is good friends with Aamir, and that they often chat on Twitter or through texts. He revealed that the Brit had invited him to his home when he was fighting in Bolton.
AK also told the press that he has been following the Indian’s career graph closely and he is very skillful but lacks the experience to fight at the level that he intends to.
He believes that if the two fight, it would end Viju’s professional career. He advised his opponent to be smart while choosing his opponents and not rush into a decision as big as this.
Contrary to his current statements, a few months ago Khan had invited Singh for a fight in India which the latter accepted.
Vijender said he is still thinking about the World Title and might give it a shot at the end of this year.
This kind of a match makes for historic TV rights and sponsorship bids, tickets being sold out in a fraction of a second, some blood inside the ring and some spit outside.
It gets more difficult every time these two engage in a war of words.
