OLD TRAFFORD – The second Test between Pakistan and England started yesterday, and by the end of the day one, England is in a comfortable position as they have scored 314 runs with the loss of four wickets.
After losing Alex Hales at the score of 25, Alastair Cook and Joe Root put up an 185 run stand in the second wicket which steadied the English ship.
Cook was dismissed when he reached 105, but Root continued his innings, and he is now batting with 141 runs along with Chris Woakes.
This is the 29th Test Century of Alastair Cook, and he is emerging as a legendary player in the history of English cricket.
If Root succeeds in batting till the lunch of the second day, then things will not be that easy for Pakistan. Pakistan bowlers were just the shadow of their own who played and scared the England batsmen in the first test.
Both Cook and Root faced the Asian bowlers in style, and at no point of time, they posed a threat to them. As Ben Stokes is waiting in the pavilion to enter the crease, the visitors are expected to face a huge challenge in the next day.

Mohammed Amir and Rahat Ali were the picks among the lots in the Pakistani bowling lineup. Both these bowlers picked up two wickets at a decent economy rate.
The pitch is expected to help the spinners as day progresses, and this is the only point of hope for the Asian team. If the spinners succeed in finding the rhythm, then they can come back in the one-sided game quite easily.
