While the update itself focused on improved translation features for “Community Notes,” a platform for verified information, Musk’s audience saw an opportunity.

The announcement, delivered in a tweet, included a non-English message, showcasing the new translation functionality. This sparked a response from XRP supporter “@XRPcryptowolf” who reminded Musk that integrating cryptocurrency payments remained the key missing feature for X. Another user, “@X_BEBEeth,” a self-proclaimed “meme artist,” echoed the sentiment, asking, “when can we use Crypto to pay the fees on X platform?”

This wasn’t the only crypto-related chatter in the replies. Several meme-themed accounts chimed in, praising Musk and the update while also subtly advocating for their favorite digital assets. One user suggested incorporating Grok, a lesser-known meme coin, into the Community Notes system.

It’s important to note that Musk himself did not mention cryptocurrency in his original tweet. However, his past influence on the crypto market, particularly with Dogecoin, is well documented. In 2021, he famously called Dogecoin’s success an “irony of fate” and suggested it could become the future currency of Earth.

It remains to be seen whether Musk will integrate crypto payments into X or if his update simply triggered hopeful speculation. One thing is certain: the ever-watchful crypto community is eager to see how the “Everything App” evolves.
