Watch: Pakistan Skipper Babar Azam Calls Azam Khan ‘Genda’ – Comment Sparks Debate

A video of Pakistan captain Babar Azam saying something to wicketkeeper Azam Khan has gone viral on the internet. While it is unclear whether the Pakistani leader’s name is Azam, some users on social media claimed that Babar called Azam “genda” (slang for a weight person).

Pakistan will begin their T20 World Cup campaign against the USA on Thursday, June 6, at the Prairie Stadium in Dallas. Ahead of this crucial tournament, the Pakistan team seems to be in conflict once again.

NDTVsports reported, many users who shared the viral video on social media on Monday, June 3, claimed that Babar was talking about Azam and said: Azzam was ashamed to point out something within his power. It is unclear whether his actions were in response to the Pakistani leader’s allegations.

World Cup selection was criticized despite his poor performance against England. Azam Khan was rated as Pakistan’s best batsman for his contribution in the T20 World Cup and came under scrutiny following his performance while batting.

Recently the T20I series against England was completed. A 1-point penalty is given for the ball. The latter’s dismissal went viral on social media, with Mark Wood hitting a nasty bouncer that Azam failed to catch in time. Azam also disappointed behind the stumps, giving up some neat catches.

Skipper Babar, however, defended the under-fire player and commented in the post-match interview: When Pakistan captain Moin Khan’s son Azam made his T20I debut against England in Nottingham in July 2021.
