Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first in their first match of the ICC T20 Mens World Cup 2024 against Ireland. The match will be played at the newly built Nassau Stadium in New York on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. The game starts at 8:00 PM IST.

India has never lost to Ireland in T20Is.

“Played on a similar pitch [against Bangladesh], do understand what to expect. Got to use your experience,” he says. India has picked four seamers, including Hardik, and two spin bowling allrounders, Axar and Jadeja. Sanju, Jaiswal, Kuldeep and Chahal miss out.
“Got plenty of match winners; today’s a perfect occasion for them to show up,” says Paul Stirling. We’ve got three seamers and two spinners, a couple of allrounders in there.”
Different from the pitches in India used for the recently concluded IPL, the pitches in the US have a lot of grass and are unpredictable, as no matches have been played on them so far.
