Kannada Actor Yuva Rajkumar and Sridevi Byrappa

Days after rapper Chandan Shetty and actress Niveditha Gowda’s divorce, another Sandalwood celebrity is parting ways with his wife. Yuva Rajkumar, the actor and grandson of the late Sandalwood matinee idol Dr. Rajkumar, has reportedly filed for divorce from Sridevi Byrappa on the grounds of cruelty under Section 13 (1) (a) of the Hindu Marriage Act.

The divorce petition was filed in a family court on June 6, 2024, surprising fans who are still reeling from the recent announcement of Chandan Shetty’s divorce from Niveditha Gowda. Reports indicate that Sridevi has been living separately for over a year. Her absence was notably felt during the release of Yuva Rajkumar’s debut movie, ‘Yuva,’ in March. Speculations about trouble in their marriage had surfaced back then but died down after the film’s release.

Yuva, whose original name is Guru, and Sridevi were friends for over seven years before their marriage. Initially, their relationship faced opposition from his family but was approved thanks to the intervention of the late Puneeth Rajkumar. Their wedding had garnered significant attention, attended by some of the biggest names in the South Indian film industry, including Mega Star Chiranjeevi.

The next hearing is scheduled for July 4. Yuva Rajkumar, reportedly out of the country, has yet to comment on the situation. Yuva Rajkumar is the son of senior actor Raghavendra Rajkumar, and his brother Vinay is also an actor in Sandalwood.

Yuva had first made his debut as a child artiste in Upendra’s blockbuster ‘Om,’ starring his uncle Shivaraj Kumar. He worked behind the scenes for ‘Siddhartha’ (2015) and ‘Run Antony’ (2016), both starring Vinay, and was credited as a producer for the latter film. Yuva had also sung a song in Puneeth Rajkumar’s last movie, ‘James.’
