The Haryana Chief Minister, Manohar Lal, announced major benefits for families holding Below Poverty Line (BPL) Ration Cards.
Electricity Bill Slab Abolished:
Previously, BPL cardholders with an annual income of ₹1,80,000 or less did not benefit if their electricity bill exceeded ₹12,000. This restriction has been lifted to ensure eligible BPL families receive electricity subsidies.
Free Cooking Oil:
Additionally, all BPL cardholders with an annual income of ₹1,80,000 or less will receive 2 liters of mustard oil monthly, reported Sacha Kanoon.
These measures aim to provide relief and support to economically vulnerable households. The BPL Ration Card ensures welfare schemes reach those below the poverty line.
In the state of Haryana, the main criteria for availing a BPL Card is if the person earns less than ₹6,400/- in rural areas and less than ₹11,850/- in urban areas per month. If the income exceeds these limits, the individual is not eligible to own a BPL Card.
