The fifth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) started on July 1, 2024 and will run until July 21, 2024. Five franchise teams are participating in the tournament, which features a total of 24 matches.
Teams and Captains:
Colombo Strikers: Led by Thisara Perera, the Strikers aim for glory in this year’s LPL.
Dambulla Sixers: Under the leadership of Mohammad Nabi, the Sixers are ready to make their mark.
Galle Marvels: Captain Niroshan Dickwella will lead the Marvels’ charge.
Jaffna Kings: Charith Asalanka is at the helm, hoping to bring success to Jaffna.
Kandy Falcons: Reigning champions, captained by Wanindu Hasaranga, are determined to defend their title.
Tournament Format:
The five franchises will compete in a double round-robin league from July 1 to July 16.
Matches will occur at three venues:
- R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo,
- Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla, and
- Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele.
The top teams will advance to the playoffs.

Qualifier 1 and Eliminator: July 18
Qualifier 2: July 20
Final: July 21
Previous Champions:
The Jaffna franchise won the first three editions of LPL (2020, 2021, and 2022).
The Kandy Falcons clinched the title in 2023.
