As competition with Google heats up, Apple now launches its Maps feature on the web which will be available to users on their browsers.
Using Apple map’s web version, users can now get driving and walking directions as well as view ratings and reviews in a mobile or desktop browser.
Availability
It is currently a beta version and the feature is only available in a few regions and only in the English language for the time being. Apple Maps can accessed from browsers like Safari and Chrome on Mac and iPad. The service is also available on Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge browsers for Windows users.
Apple says it will expand its services to other regions, languages, and browsers with more features over time.

Features and Capabilities
The web version of Apple Maps provides the same features as it does on the mobile application which includes, directions, view guides, ordering food directly from Maps, reviews, and other helpful information for businesses.
It will add additional features like Look Around in the coming months.
Competition with Google Maps
For the longest time, Apple Maps was available for iOS users in the form of an application exclusively on the company’s devices. It was first launched in 2012 on the iPhone. This launch pits Apple Maps directly against Google Maps, which started on the desktop in 2005 and has long been the go-to source for maps on the web.
Recently, Apple Maps also released various updates. These included increased details on everything from road markings and trees to public transportation lines. It also introduced new custom-designed 3D landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dam, etc. These upgrades came ahead of the Paris Olympics which will take place from July 26 to August 11.
