Michelle Obama endorses Kamala Harris - 'I am proud of you'

Former US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama have expressed their support for Democratic Party presidential candidate Kamala Harris, calling her a fantastic contender.

Barack Obama announced his support for Harris on X. He posted, “Earlier this week, Michelle and I called our friend @KamalaHarris. We told her we think she’ll make a fantastic President of the United States, and that she has our full support.”

The former President added that he would help Harris in winning the Presidential elections. “At this critical moment for our country, we’re going to do everything we can to make sure she wins in November. We hope you’ll join us.” He said attaching a one-minute video with the tweet where Harris was seen talking to the Obamas on a phone call.

The Obamas endorse Harris

On the call, Michelle Obama was heard saying, “I am proud of you. This is going to be historic.”

Former President Barack Obama endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris. “Michelle and I couldn’t be prouder to endorse you and to do everything we can to get you through this election and into the Oval Office,” he said.

Harris thanked the couple and expressed her gratitude for their long friendship.

She said, “Oh my goodness. Michelle, Barack, this means so much to me. I’m looking forward to doing this with the two of you, Doug and I both. And getting out there, being on the road.” She thanked them and further added, “But most of all, I just want to tell you the words you have spoken and the friendship that you have given over all these years mean more than I can express, so thank you both. It means so much. And we’re gonna have some fun with this too, aren’t we?”

The Obamas have been two of the most prominent figures in the Democratic Party, even after more than a decade has passed since they were last elected.

Within 36 hours of Biden’s withdrawal, the 59-year-old Vice President had gathered the support of her party.
