Wrestler Vinesh Phogat has taken her case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) after being disqualified from the women’s 50kg wrestling final at the Paris Olympics 2024.

CAS has asked for time till tomorrow morning, Thursday, 11:30 AM IST, to give its final verdict. If the Court of Arbitration for Sport rules in favor of Phogat, the IOC will have to award a joint silver to the Indian grappler as the CAS decision is final.

The CAS is an international body established in Switzerland to resolve disputes that might arise in sports.

The disqualification resulted from her being 100 grams more overweight than the permissible limit. Vinesh’s appeal seeks a joint Olympic silver medal12. The CAS is expected to provide an interim ruling soon.
