With the 2024 Paris Olympics coming to an end, each sport has seen fierce competition from all the participating countries. Let’s take a look at the medal tally for each country.
The top 5
The United States has the most impressive tally with a total of 113 medals across various sports. The collection includes 33 golds, 41 silvers, and 39 bronze medals displaying the United States’ continuous dominance in athletics, swimming, and gymnastics.
People’s Republic of China follows behind with 84 medals, 34 of which are gold. Their athletes have performed tremendously in fields such as swimming, diving, and shooting. China is also the country with the highest number of gold medals in the Paris Olympics.
France and Great Britain stand in the third and fourth positions with a total of 57 medals each. The host nation performed remarkably in judo and swimming and won 15 gold medals in total. The British athletes dominated the fields of rowing, track cycling, and athletics securing 14 gold medals.
Australia also acquires a position in the top 5 with 48 medals so far, 18 of which are gold. The Aussies showed remarkable strength in swimming and athletics.
India at the Paris Olympics
India’s journey at the 2024 Olympics has been somewhat of a double-edged sword. With some disheartening moments, the country has been able to secure a total of 6 medals, of which 5 are bronze and 1 silver. Their best performance was in shooting with Manu Bhaker winning 3 bronze medals in the sport and creating history. In wrestling, Aman Sehrawat bagged a bronze medal and again created history by becoming the youngest Indian to win an Olympic medal.
This was India’s second-most successful Olympic Games in terms of medal count. India won six medals in London 2012 and seven in Tokyo 2020.
With only a few events remaining, the final day promises to be a memorable end to the Paris Olympics 2024.
