A 32-year-old woman postgraduate trainee doctor was raped and murdered at the RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata while on duty.
The woman’s body was discovered in the lecture hall of a government hospital in the West Bengal capital. According to the original autopsy report, the woman bled from her eyes, mouth, and private regions. She also had injuries to her left leg, neck, right hand, ring finger, and lips, NDTV reported.

Doctors go on strike
Doctors from numerous hospitals across India have declared an indefinite strike to condemn the heinous crime and demand justice for the trainee doctor. Doctors in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and numerous other cities have stated that all elective services will be paused until the investigation is concluded. Protesters are also demanding appropriate security for all medical personnel.
Speaking with ANI, Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) general secretary Sarvesh Pandey stated that about 3 lakh physicians nationwide had joined the protest and requested that others do. He said they will continue their strike forever until their demands are met. “We will continue our strike until we get a written assurance that our demands will be fulfilled,” Dr. Sarvesh Pandey stated.
