The Chhattisgarh government has decided to transfer the investigation of the multi-crore Mahadev Book online betting app scandal to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The scandal, involving international players and masterminded from the UAE, has suspected connections with politicians, bureaucrats, and celebrities.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had earlier uncovered this racket, which involves laundering over ₹5,000 crores.
Speaking to TOI, Chhattisgarh deputy chief minister Vijay Sharma also a home secretary said, “The govt is actively considering to handover the Mahadev app scan case to the CBI.
The decision to involve the CBI was made due to the complex and far-reaching nature of the case, which spans multiple states and countries. The ED’s investigation revealed that the app facilitated illegal betting and money laundering through intricate networks of offshore accounts and shell companies.
Prominent personalities, including politicians and celebrities, are under scrutiny for their alleged involvement.
