TON Coin Dips 17% After Telegram CEO Pavel Durov Arrested in Paris

Telegram CEO Pavel Durov was arrested by French police at Le Bourget Airport near Paris. The 39-year-old billionaire founder of Telegram was detained under a warrant for offenses related to the popular messaging app. His private jet had just landed when the arrest occurred.

The charges against Durov are linked to Telegram’s lack of content moderation and his failure to cooperate with French authorities. As a result of this development, TON Coin (Toncoin) experienced a significant dip in the value of 17% 3. Durov is set to appear in court, facing serious charges that could result in up to 20 years in prison.

Russia’s embassy in France is actively seeking clarification on the situation.

Pavel Durov Faces 20 Years In Prison In France

Durov is set to appear before a judge on Saturday evening, facing multiple charges, including terrorism, drug trafficking, fraud, money laundering, and child abuse content, according to CoinPedia.

Durov, a dual French and Russian citizen, could face up to 20 years in prison.

The charges stem from a search warrant issued by the French National Directorate of Judicial Police.
