Paris will be hosting its first-ever Summer Paralympic Games starting from August 28 (Wednesday). The event will open with a spectacular Opening Ceremony at Place de la Concorde and the Champs-Elysées, located in the heart of France’s capital. This will be the first time in the history of Paralympics that the Opening Ceremony will take place outside of a stadium. On July 26, the Opening Ceremony of the Paris Olympics was also held outside a stadium on the banks of the Seine River.
A crowd of 50, 000 spectators will be present to witness the grand Opening Ceremony where dozens of dancers with disabilities will showcase dazzling dance routines and surprise performances. The event is scheduled to take place at 20:00 local time.
The Opening Ceremony will mark the beginning of 11 days of intense competition.
Ceremony will begin with a grand parade
The Paris 2024 Paralympics Opening Ceremony will begin with a grand parade at Champs-Elysées. A total of 184 delegations from around the world will take part in the event. This public celebration will feature 6,000 athletes and authorities.
The Artistic Director for the 2024 Summer Olympics Opening Ceremonies, Thomas Jolly has said that the spectacle will “showcase the Paralympic athletes and the values that they embody.” He described the concept as a “magnificent source of inspiration.” “Performances that have never been seen before” in a “spectacle will unite spectators and television audiences worldwide around the unique spirit of the Paralympic Games”, Jolly said as reported by the official website of the Olympics.
