K-Pop Artist Taeil Removed from Boy Band After Sexual Misconduct

K-pop singer Taeil has quit the K-pop band NCT after being accused of an alleged sexual offence. His management label and music agency, SM Entertainment, stated X on Wednesday, stating that the NCT member would leave the boy band after discovering he had been “accused in a criminal case related to a sexual crime”.

A statement issued by SM Entertainment

“It’s SM Entertainment. We recently confirmed that Taiel has been accused of a criminal case related to sex crimes. In this regard, we recognized that the issue was severe while grasping the facts, so we decided we could no longer continue our team activities. We discussed this with Taeil and decided to withdraw from the team.

“Currently, Taeil is faithfully working on the police investigation, and I will tell you about additional positions depending on the progress of the investigation,” the statement read, which was originally issued in Korean. The company also apologized and said, “We deeply apologize for the controversy caused by our artist.”

K-Pop Artist Exits Boy Band After Sexual Crime Allegations

Taeil has not officially responded or accepted the accusations.

BBC reported that Taeil is under investigation by Seoul’s Bangbae Police Station for a sexual offence.

NCT Band

NCT, or Neo Culture Technology, is a famous South Korean boy band that debuted in 2016. Taeil has been a member of the band since.

The band presently includes about twenty-four members, divided into various sections such as NCT 127, NCT Dream, and NCT Wish. Taeil was recently active in NCT 127.
