In a powerful wave of social media activism, the hashtag #AllEyesOnMuslims has been trending on social media, particularly on X, drawing attention to various issues affecting Muslim communities worldwide. This trend follows the recent #AllEyesOnRafah campaign, highlighting the dire situation in Rafah, Gaza.
“The ‘All Eyes on Muslims’ trend is a call to action,” says digital activist Amina Khan. “It’s about raising awareness and showing solidarity with Muslim communities facing discrimination, violence, and marginalization.”
Widespread participation
The campaign has seen widespread participation, with users sharing stories, images, and videos that shed light on the struggles faced by Muslims in different parts of the world. “Social media has become a powerful tool for marginalized voices,” notes Professor Dan Angus, a digital communication expert. “These trends can amplify issues that might otherwise be overlooked by mainstream media.”
One of the campaign’s most poignant aspects is its ability to connect people across borders. “Seeing the global response to #AllEyesOnMuslims is heartening,” shares activist and writer Yasmin Mogahed. It reminds us that we are not alone in our struggles.”
Hashtag continues to gain traction.
The trend has also sparked conversations about the role of social media in activism. “While hashtags alone can’t solve these issues, they can certainly bring them to the forefront,” says Professor Angus. “They create a sense of urgency and community.”
As the hashtag continues to gain traction, many hope it will lead to tangible changes. “We need to move from awareness to action,” urges Khan. “It’s time for policymakers and leaders to listen and address these concerns.”
