The iconic sketch comedy show “Saturday Night Live” celebrated its 50th season premiere with a memorable cold open featuring a parade of beloved cast members and guest stars.

Maya Rudolph reprised her Emmy-winning role as Vice President Kamala Harris, bringing her signature charm and wit to the stage. She was joined by comedian Jim Gaffigan, who made his debut as Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, and former SNL cast member Andy Samberg, who portrayed Harris’s husband, Doug Emhoff.

Dana Carvey, another SNL alum, returned to the show with his hilarious take on President Joe Biden.

The sketch began with Andrew Dismukes playing ABC anchor David Muir, who quickly transitioned to a Harris/Walz rally post-debate. Rudolph’s Harris, affectionately known as “the fun aunt,” took the stage first, declaring, “The fun has been rebooted. Too fun, too furious.” She compared her campaign to Sabrina Carpenter’s song “Espresso,” noting that “the lyrics are vague, but the vibe slaps”.

Jim Gaffigan’s Tim Walz brought his trademark humor, joking about his excitement for the campaign and his “big dad energy.” He took jabs at political opponents and emphasized his slogan, “Mind your damn business,” while also sharing quirky Minnesota sayings.

Andy Samberg’s Doug Emhoff, introduced as “Charlie Brown, if he was a grown-up,” proudly supported his wife and looked forward to decorating the White House for Christmas.

Dana Carvey’s Joe Biden added to the comedic mix with his portrayal of a stuttering, confused president who humorously acknowledged his own forgetfulness.
