Several speculations regarding the hero in ‘Bond 25′ have been ruling the headlines of entertainment portals for the past couple of months, and now a statement from Daniel Craig has put an end to the rumors and guesses. On August 15, 2017, Daniel Craig confirmed to Stephen Colbert stating that he will return as James Bond once again for the series’ 25th film.
Daniel Craig changed his words made in 2015
In an interview given in 2015, Daniel Craig has told that he would rather slash his wrists than doing the role of James Bond again in his career. When asked about this previous statement, Craig replied that he has made those remarks just days after completing “Spectre”, and at that time, he felt that revisiting the role was the most unappealing thing ever to do.
Hearing this explanation from Craig, Stephen Colbert replied that the feel of James Bond after “Spectre” was just the same as a woman who was asked to deliver one more baby soon after she gave birth to one with a four-inch episiotomy. To this statement, Craig replied that revisiting the role of Bond cannot be compared to child’s birth, and he added that continuing the interview in this manner will irk their wives.
Craig also confirmed that the next bond movie will be his final outing as the celebrated spy. The “Skyfall” actor also expressed his wish to go out from the franchise on a high note. It should be noted that Craig’s last outing as Bond, “Spectre” received mixed reviews, and it currently holds a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 64 percentage. On the other hand, his initial flicks as James Bond, “Casino Royal” and “Skyfall” hold ratings of 95 and 93 in the Tomato Meter.
Mixed response from the audiences
Daniel Craig’s return as the British Spy has not gone well with many critics, and many of them are criticizing the movie crew stating that Craig’s glow as Bond has diminished a lot in “Spectre”, and it is likely to fade more in the 25th movie. Matt Singer of the Screen Crush wrote that even though Daniel Craig is a great Bond, “Spectre” was not a great film, and also the end of it felt like a farewell to the star from the 007 movies.
This untitled 25th James Bond movie will be released on November 08, 2019, in the United States. The makers are now busy finalizing the remaining star cast for this film.
