Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid Leads Protest in Srinagar Demanding Restoration of ‘Darbar Move’

Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid led a peaceful protest in Srinagar today, demanding the restoration of the ‘Darbar Move,’ a biannual tradition that involves shifting the capital of Jammu and Kashmir between Srinagar and Jammu.

The protest, which saw a large turnout, began at the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar. Addressing the crowd, Engineer Rashid emphasized the importance of the ‘Darbar Move’ for balanced governance and unity between the regions of Jammu and Kashmir. “The ‘Darbar Move’ is not just a tradition; it is a symbol of our unity and a mechanism for balanced governance,” Rashid stated.

Rashid criticized the government’s decision to halt the ‘Darbar Move,’ arguing that it has led to administrative inefficiencies and a sense of alienation among the people of Kashmir. “By stopping the ‘Darbar Move,’ the government has disrupted the administrative balance and created a divide between Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

The MP also highlighted the historical importance of the ‘Darbar Move,’ which dates back to the 19th century. “This tradition has been a part of our history for over a century. It is crucial for maintaining the socio-political equilibrium in our state,” Rashid added.

Protesters echoed Rashid’s sentiments, holding placards and chanting slogans in support of the ‘Darbar Move.’ One protester remarked, “We are here to demand what is rightfully ours. The ‘Darbar Move’ ensures that both regions receive equal attention and resources.”

Engineer Rashid concluded his speech with a call to action, urging the government to reconsider its decision. “We will not rest until the ‘Darbar Move’ is restored. This is a fight for our rights and our identity,” he declared.
