The Integrated Check Post (ICP), a new passenger terminal, and the Maitri Dwar were inaugurated today by Indian Home Minister Amit Shah at Petrapole, West Bengal. “Under the visionary leadership of PM Shri @narendramodi Ji, the Petrapole Land Port has set a new benchmark of excellence in border trade, international cooperation, and security,” tweeted Amit Shah during the inauguration ceremony. Celebrated as the largest land port in South Asia, Petrapole facilitates 70% of cross-border trade with Bangladesh, making it a crucial hub for economic activity.

Boosting Passenger Movement
The newly inaugurated passenger terminal building is designed to handle the movement of 25,000 passengers daily. “This facility will significantly boost health and education tourism, ushering in prosperity for the region,” said a senior official at the event. The terminal is expected to streamline the flow of people, enhancing the overall travel experience and fostering closer ties between India and Bangladesh.
