Acclaimed actor Brian Cox has returned to university, but not for the reasons you might expect. Cox stars in Uber One’s latest campaign, promoting its new student membership program for Uber and Uber Eats.
The campaign, created by Special Group U.S., features Cox as a freshman who is more interested in the perks of the membership than in attending classes. “Our goal with this first campaign was to underscore how impactful an Uber One membership can be for students,” said Georgie Jeffreys, Uber’s head of marketing for the U.S. and Canada.
“We’re always inclined to show rather than tell, so we thought what could be better (and funnier!) than to convey the great lengths that someone would go to be back in college purely to reap the benefits of Uber One for Students.”
The Uber One for Students membership offers a variety of benefits, including $0 delivery fees, up to 10% off orders, 6% Uber One credits on rides, and member-only pricing and discounts for just $4.99 per month. This initiative aims to make college life a bit more effortless and affordable for students.

In addition to the humorous ad, Uber has been actively promoting membership on college campuses. In late August, the company set up pop-up shops at universities like the University of Miami and the University of Texas at Austin, where students could get free snacks and learn more about the program.
Brian Cox’s involvement adds a touch of star power to the campaign, making it both memorable and engaging.
As Jeffreys noted, “We’re thrilled to have Brian Cox on board to help us highlight the convenience and savings that Uber One for Students can bring to college life.”
