Attacked on the Army Vehicle: A Bold Trap
Early Monday morning, as a vehicle made its way near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Akhnoor, it opened fire on an army ambulance van. It wasn’t just a random attack. The location near Shiv Mandir in Akhnoor, the early hour pointed to calculated planning. The attackers were likely armed to catch the vehicle off guard creating maximum impact.
But the army was quick to respond. Special forces and National Security Guard (NSG) commandos were mobilized immediately, setting the stage for a high-stakes encounter. Within hours, the situation escalated leading to intense gunfire as security forces closed in on the terrorists.
A Critical Operation: How Security Forces Fought Back
After the surprise attack, security forces launched an extensive search operation across the area. Reports surfaced that by the evening, one of the three terrorists had been killed in an intense shootout. But the operation didn’t stop there; forces pressed on, determined to eliminate the remaining attackers/ The landscape was challenging, and darkness added to the obstacles. However, with drones, helicopters, and other tactical support, the team thoroughly searched every corner, tracking down the suspects.
“Despite the difficult terrain and conditions, our forces remain resolute in their commitment to ensuring the safety of the region and neutralizing threats” stated an Army spokesman.
A Brave Soldier Lost: The Role Of Army Dog Phantom
Among the heroes on the ground was Phantom, a four-year-old army dog trained for such high-risk missions. Tragically, Phantom was hit during the operation and lost his life in the line of duty. His bravery highlighted the critical role that military animals play, often risking their lives alongside soldiers to keep the area secure.
“Phantom’s sacrifice reminds us of the unwavering dedication of our service animals, who serve with honor and courage,” said a military official.
