In a sharp rebuttal to Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy’s recent comments about the Gandhi family, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar emphasized the pivotal role the Gandhi family played in HD Deve Gowda’s political ascent.
“Mr. HD Kumaraswamy doesn’t have any right to speak on the Gandhi family. Without the Gandhi family, his father wouldn’t have become the Prime Minister of this country,” stated Shivakumar. He further added, “The Gandhi family, in those days, blessed his father and made him Prime Minister of this country.”
This response comes after Kumaraswamy’s controversial remark referring to Priyanka Gandhi as “Italian-born Sonia Gandhi’s daughter,” which has sparked significant political discourse. Kumaraswamy’s comments were seen as a counter to Congress leaders labeling him and his son as “migrants” in Channapatna.

The current tension escalated when HD Kumaraswamy made a remark referring to Priyanka Gandhi as “Italian-born Sonia Gandhi’s daughter.” This was perceived as a derogatory comment aimed at the Gandhi family, which has been a sensitive topic in Indian politics.
Kumaraswamy’s comments were a response to Congress leaders labeling him and his son as “migrants” in Channapatna, a constituency with significant political importance. This exchange highlights the ongoing power struggle and the competitive nature of Karnataka politics.
