India needs three more wickets to win the first Test against Australia in Perth.
After a lively start to day 2, India bowled out the host side for 104, with a brilliant fifer from stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah. The Indian openers took perfect control of the first Test in Perth. With a 46-run lead at the beginning of their second innings, Rahul and Jaiswal were in a strong position as they blazed off. They created an undefeated 172-run partnership in 57 overs. The determination of the Indian opening batsmen was unmatched by Pat Cummins and his teammates. As they swept the day without dropping a wicket. India took a vital 218-run lead going into Day 3 as stumps appeared on Day 2.

To continue his impressive success, Yashavi Jaiwal reached his ninth half-century in Test cricket off his 123rd ball in the second innings. In the 38th over, the outstanding opening pair broke through the 100-run partnership barrier, increasing India’s advantage to 150. KL With a tough and tough knock, Rahul quickly reached his 16th half-century in Test cricket. With no wickets lost, the Indian openers reached their first innings total, showing complete dominance. After folding for just 150 in the first innings. It seemed unlikely in the middle of the first day that India would soon be holding the reins of the Test in less than 24 hours. But come the end of the second session on Day 2 India has the upper hand, thanks to a disciplined batting performance by the openers, that has helped them build on their handy 46-run first-innings lead.
Some credit goes to the pitch, which indeed got friendlier as the day progressed and both Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul made sure that after seeing off the initial tricky period, they began punishing the bad balls.

India was ahead by 130 runs at Tea as the pair began on an undefeated 84-run opening partnership. Two quick wickets early in the morning of Day 2 shook Australia. On the opening ball of Day 2, India captain Jasprit Bumrah took out Alex Carey for 21. His eleventh five-wicket haul in Test cricket. The ball clipped Carey’s edge and fell into wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant’s grasps after he was undone by the seam and bounced forward. Harshit Rana, who took his second wicket by dismissing Nathan Lyon, commended his bowling.

But then Australia got back together. The host tailenders began reducing their lead after batting steadily and patiently for the first hour. With Australia surpassing 100 runs, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood put up a fight, upsetting the Indian bowlers. When Rana claimed his third wicket, knocking Starc for 26. The final partnership contributed 25 vital runs to the total in 110 balls, ultimately giving India a 46-run lead. Australia added 34 runs to their overnight total of 67/7 in the morning session.
