The Mahayuti alliance, comprising the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP, has been in intense discussions to finalize the new government formation. Eknath Shinde, who recently returned from his native village, has reiterated his support for the BJP’s decision on the new Chief Minister, dismissing any differences within the alliance, reported News18.

Shinde’s Demands and Strategic Moves

Eknath Shinde has been vocal about his interest in securing influential portfolios, including the Home Ministry. His insistence on the Home Ministry highlights its political significance and his desire to consolidate power within the new government2. The BJP is expected to appoint a central observer for Maharashtra by this evening, with a legislative party meeting scheduled for December 4, 2024.

Oath-Taking Ceremony Scheduled

The BJP has announced that the oath-taking ceremony for the new Mahayuti government will take place on December 5 at Azad Maidan in South Mumbai, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to attend. The final decision on the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Ministers will be made through consensus among the alliance partners.
