Due to increasing unrest, police were called, and protesting students were strictly told to reappear for supplementary exams scheduled on September 2. University pointed out last moment stress to be responsible for such results.
These results were disappointing for both teachers and students regarding the compartment of many students. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) student wing also urged the vice-chancellor to re-evaluate the answer sheets citing online classes during the Covid-19 pandemic responsible for this failure rate as exams were held offline, but classes were held online.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, exams of the first-year students of the MBBS 2019 batch were delayed by three months. Earlier these exams were scheduled in March 2021.
It became a concern for the country’s medical fraternity as these students are future doctors. Out of the total failed students, 104 students were from Madhubani College and 56 from Bettiah Government Medical College.
