Chhattisgarh CM’s father arrested, sent to 15-day judicial custody over ‘anti-Brahmin’ remarks

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Has His 86-Year-Old Father Arrested For Hate Speech

Nand Kumar Baghel, the father of Chhattisgarh’s Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel was arrested on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, for his comments against Brahmins and is in 15-days judicial custody by Raipur court.

As per the reports of TOI, in the year 2000, he wrote a book Brahman Kumar Raavan ko mat maro, which is an anti-Brahmin book to the core.

Before 2018, he wanted his son to not give tickets to any Brahmin candidate and had also made derogatory remarks about Bhagwan Rama. But now he has crossed all his limits by commenting on Brahmins that they are outsiders, should be socially boycotted, and should be thrown out of the country.

He has repeated his anti-Brahmin tirade saying that the Brahmins will be sent from river Ganga to the Volga, he also urged villagers to not allow Brahmins to enter their villages as they consider them untouchables and are snatching their rights.

A Brahmin Samaj filed a complaint in Deen Dayal Nagar police station, Raipur under 153-A(promoting disharmony or enmity between different groups), 505-A ( speech causing fear or alarm among people or provoking violence) after which he was arrested from Delhi and was taken to Raipur where he was presented in front of the Judge.

He refused to apply for bail and hence he has been sent to 15-day judicial custody. CM Bhupesh Baghel ensured in front of the media that the appropriate action will be taken against him and no special treatment will be given to him because he is the father of a Chief Minister.
