'Sooryavanshi' movie review, box-office collection and public response

‘Sooryavanshi’ starring Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, and Katrina Kaif in pivotal roles has earned a whopping Rs 50 crores at the box office.

The fourth installment of Rohit Shetty’s cop universe, “Sooryavanshi,” was released worldwide on November 5, 2021. And theatres are jam-packed and houseful across the country after a long time.

After about one and a half years of watching several first looks of teasers, trailers, and movie reviews online, Sooryavanshi is the first Bollywood movie to release on the big screen.

The trailer of Sooryavanshi was released on March 2, 2020. The four minutes 15 seconds trailer was overkill, with lots of stories provided in the clip itself, leaving the audience with no suspense or surprises at all.

Movie plot and actors

“Sooryavanshi” points out some national issues. Though, the last three releases in the cop-centered movies of Rohit Shetty focused on the policemen working in their localities.

Thus, this movie becomes the biggest installment as all three actors, Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar feature as police officers. At the same time, Katrina Kaif is the only female lead playing the role of Akshay’s romantic interest.

The movie portrays the functioning of an anti-terrorism squad and their attempt to curtailing an attack going to take place in Mumbai. The story references several attacks that Mumbai has been marred with.

The leftover RDX is abundant, referencing the scale of gruesome terrorist attacks in the city. The film wants to refabricate how injustice and atrocities lead individuals to join the system or take up arms for better functioning.

Message through the movie

There is a message of communal harmony and India’s representation of Unity in Diversity. Akshay Kumar saying, “Mumbai Police criminal ka religion dekhkar goli nahi chalati, criminal record dekhkar thokti hai” will probably lead to many cheers and claps.

Bollywood analysts have their eyes set on “Sooryaanshi” to know how the movie performs commercially. This movie has enough potential to draw the audience to the theatres.

The opening box-office numbers of “Sooryavanshi” is expected to be around Rs 30 crores. The revenue from advance bookings is also huge.

Public reviews

There were mixed opinions from the public about the movie. Everyone was thrilled to watch the film on a big screen, and if it’s a Rohit Shetty movie, then the level of action, entertainment, excitement is top-notch. Still, some people liked the film, and some returned disappointed.

Earlier, the film was expected to be released in March 2020 but was postponed to April 2021. The global pandemic came in the way of release.
