Russian President Putin in #India for 1 day visit

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in New Delhi Monday afternoon. The time of his arrival hasn’t been disclosed yet.

India and Russia will have a deal to manufacture 7.5 lakh AK-203 assault rifles for the Indian Army under the ‘Make in India’ initiative. The Russian President will give Prime Minister the S-400 air defense system model; top government as sourced by India Today.

“India-Russia defense engagements have progressed in an unprecedented manner in recent times. We hope Russia will remain a major partner for India in these challenging circumstances”- Defense Minister Rajnath Singh during Indian Russia 2+2 inter-ministerial dialogue.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and his Russian counterpart General Sergey Shoigu have signed important defense agreements between India and Russia.

The details of the agreement are:

  • Contract for procurement of 6,01,427 7.63x39mm assault rifles AK-203 through Indo-Russia Rifles Pvt Ltd.
  • Program for military-technical cooperation from 2021-2031.

Major Highlight of Narendra Modi and Putin meeting

The AK-203 assault rifle deal would be the main attraction.
The Russian designed AK-203 will be produced in a new factory in Uttar Pradesh.
The deal has many important prospects. Both the parties have considered them.

Previous Military and Technical cooperation between India and Russia

Russia and India have always maintained cordial relations.
This is not the first time Narendra Modi and Vladimir Putin have struck a big deal in the sphere of Arms and intelligence.

S-400 Triumfair Defense Missile system deal worth 39,000 crores was announced at the 2018 Summit.
