The Gorakhpur rally of Narendra Modi on December 8, 2021, sparked a political clash among the Bhartiya Janta Party and Samajwadi Party.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in his speech in Hindi that “People wearing red caps (laal topi) are red warning signals for Uttar Pradesh. These people are only interested in red siren cars (laal batti) and power”
He went on to say that “People wearing red capes are yearning for power to release terrorists from jail and doing scams and give a free run to mafias.”
‘People wearing red caps’ is referred to Samajwadi party members and Akhilesh Yadav.
Since then exchange of statements and accuses has started between the two political parties.
Akhilesh Yadav counter statement
Akhilesh Yadav in an NDTV interview said
“Red symbolises Revolution (kranti) ”
He went on to say that the government has done nothing for the public.
The government has made the public and needy stand in line for everything including oxygen cylinders in the pandemic, and now the public will again stand in line to vote them out.
Jaya Bachchan also came in support of the Samajwadi Party. She said that she is proud of the red cap and the color. She remarked that the media should capture and follow the rallies of Akhilesh Yadav and foretell the result of the upcoming U.P elections.
PMO India handle becomes the medium of political accusations
The PMO India handle also contributed to this agitation. @PMOIndia handle tweeted the same statement as spoken at the rally.
The PMO India is a government official account taken in hand for firing accusations and making a political state.
Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra took to Twitter to point out the PMO India tweet was unacceptable as it’s an official government account. The PM office paid for by tax payer’s money should not be used for political statements.
Aam Aadmi Party, Sanjay Singh also remarked that BJP members wear Blackcaps.
This statement has been getting backlash from all the parties and members. As the elections are approaching this political clash tends to get more intense.
